What is Hack Golf?
Hack Golf is a pioneering initiative aimed at making golf more fun for everyone. The premise: we need to re-invigorate the golf experience to ensure the game continues to thrive in the 21st century.
Designed as an open innovation and collaborative platform, Hack Golf brings together passionate golfers, interested non-golfers, and industry leaders—indeed, anyone with ideas and approaches to increase the fun factor in golf.
Why Join Hack Golf?
There may be some folks who are content to work on trivial problems, but you're not one of them. You're excited by the chance to bring your experience and imagination to an exciting, global-scale project focused on reinvigorating a game played by millions of people around the world.
Every radical innovation starts out as a courageous "What if?" On Hack Golf, world-renowned experts and like-minded peers will help you turn your "far out" idea for making golf more fun into a real-world breakthrough.
You don't have to be a guru, a CEO, or Tour pro to “hack” golf. Hack Golf participants aren't solely interested in their own golf experience—their ambition is to make the game more fun for everybody.
How does Hack Golf Work?
Hack Golf is currently in its first stage—during phase 1, participants will have a chance to highlight what sucks the fun out of golf and share initial ideas on how to address these. By sharing these early insights, Phase 1 participants help shape the initiative’s future stages. They will also access to plenty of thought-provoking content we’ll provide along the way.
At the end of the first phase, a spot on the golf calendar somewhere around The Masters, we’ll kick off a collaborative process that will ultimately generate many “hacks” for golf—radical yet practical ideas to increase the fun quotient in them game. We’re out to challenge and change the rituals, rules and annoyances—large and small—that make the game less fun that it should be. So all aspects of the golf experience are fair game for “hacking.” For more on the Hack Golf process, see our approach page.
Hack Golf isn’t a mere brainstorming exercise. We expect that a number of the most promising hacks will receive financial and other types of support so that they can be prototyped and experimented with in the real world.
Who’s behind Hack Golf?
TaylorMade and the PGA of America are the founding partners of the Hack Golf platform, but we intend Hack Golf to be a broad industry initiative. ver the next several weeks, we expect to announce additional partners and support.
